System Operating Instructions

1. Place the Instrument in a well ventilated location, attach the line cord to an appropriate 110/220 VAC outlet, and switch Instrument power to ON (back panel).
A green light (front panel) indicates Instrument is ON.

2. Insert the catheter optical plug into the instrument optical receptacle. Make sure the catheter optical plug is orientated properly during insertion. optical receptacle
3. Insert the catheter calibration key into the instrument calibration key receptacle. calibration key receptacle
4. Connect appropriate cables to the analog or RS232 (digital) outputs located on the rear panel.

5. Wait for the Instrument to initialize hardware/software and bring the optical components to operating temperature.
An LED display 'racetrack' indicates the Instrument is initializing and warming to operating temperature.

6. FOR PRESSURE SENSORS

When the LED display shows "CAL - 0 - CAL - 0 etc.", the Instrument is ready for zero pressure setting:
  1. Make sure the sensor is outside the body and at ambient pressure.
  2. Press the data enter key once. This sets zero pressure for both the catheter pressure sensor and the reference pressure transducer.

If the LED display shows "Run", the sensor is ready for use and the catheter may be placed at desired measurment location.

If the catheter pressure sensor requires multi-point calibration, the LED display will show "CAL - 100 - CAL - 100 etc.". Apply 100mmHg pressure to the catheter and press the data enter key once. Repeat this sequence for additional pressures as requested by the LED display.

When the LED display shows "Run", the sensor is ready for use and the catheter may be placed at desired measurment location.

6. FOR TEMPERATURE SENSORS

When the LED display shows "CAL - 40 - CAL - 40 etc.", insert temperature sensor into the front panel orifice labeled "40 C" and press the data enter key once. When calibration is finished the LED display will show "RUN"; the temperature sensor may now be removed and placed at the desired measurement location.
